The Küçük Ayasofya region, which has been located between Çatladıkapı and Kadırga port, within the boundaries of one of the four world heritage sites of İstanbul, draws attention with not only its archaelogical remains and monumental buildings, but also its traditional wooden residential architecture. This study aims to determine the transformation of the traditional wooden architectural heritage of the region as well as preservation of authenticity and integrity values and identify the conservation problems within the area. In this framework, firstly the historical process and legal status of the region have been examined. It is stated that the works planned to implement in the region, which has been declared as urban renewal area according the law no. 5366 in 2007, should be handled very carefully regarding the outstanding universal values of the region. In this context, the buildings, which have reached today with their authentic values, located at the study area; are documented in order to determine the characteristics of the wooden architectural traditions of the region. In the last section, analysis and evaluation of the data obtained in field studies due to maintain an integrated conversation and alternative solutions for these issues have been discussed.
