Yapıların Otel Olarak Yeniden Kullanım Bağlamında Makansal Dönüşümlerin Analizi: "Four Seasons Oteli-Sultanahmet Cezaevi" Örmeği

Abstract

Nowadays, the social structure in the continuous development monitors the new shapes and regulations that this effort also affects the structures. Especially, as a result of the existing building stock and the development of tourism, the concepts of re-use and requirement of bed and hotel come together. During the re-use process of buildings which are thought to be hotel and have the functions of hotel, subjects such as approach and departure to the space in terms of perception and conception in designs, entrance and exit, movement through the space design, functionality of spaces and actions in them, design identity, continuity and development of space design which are necessary for to establish and create suitable spaces. In this context, the method determined for the analysis of the spatial transformations is summarized as schematically. Then, in accordance with this determined method, the analysis of Four Seasons Hotel - Sultan Ahmet Jail is made, which is a unique example because of the reason that it is located within the boundaries of old Istanbul and a historical building. Finally, nominative findings that have been obtained as the result of spatial transformations are discussed and set out within the context of re-use of a chosen sample building as a hotel.
