Building Information Modeling (BIM), which is considered as one of the most important developments in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector, presents a technology that allows project data to be managed in a digital environment by including different tools and processes. BIM is based on building elements and it models the relationships of these elements with each other. In a BIM model, objects belonging to building elements are brought together to form a virtual model of the building. The virtual model contains all building elements and their different qualities, it can be used in physical environmental control calculations such as model, energy, lighting, structural analysis, clash detection in construction process, multidimensional simulations, code compliance checking. In order to achieve these intended purposes, the types of data, characteristics and names need to be correctly represented. Building models, which are verified in this way, play an important role in the execution of many automated tasks such as code compliance checking of building elements regulations.
In construction sector, an effective Automated Code Compliance Checking (ACCC) through a virtual building model produced with BIM is considered as a promising work area. It is expected that ACCC supports design process by increasing efficiency and accuracy in design evaluation process. This study evaluates findings of the”Meta-Analysis” study that is carried out to determine trends of research in the code compliance-checking domain through BIM, and to determine areas on which they are concentrated and in which they are vacant..
