Abstract

Sustainable rural development is becoming more important day by day in our country where 35% of the population lives in rural areas. In the sustainable rural development that have economical, social and environmental dimensions, one of the most important problems is maintaining the sustainability of the existing buildings in the rural areas and sustainability of the local architecture traditions in the new buildings. In this study, after the importance of the sustainable rural development concept and rural housing problem in our country emphasized. The aim of the study is to determine a masonry wall type for rural housing in the case of Kayseri. Phases of the study are as follows: Analysis and evaluations for local construction materials and introducing properties of the proposed building materials, determination of the construction system principles, results and evaluation.
