Having a structurally and conceptually important place in architectural designthought, the Wall has been exemplified in the formative narrative of the Sinop city walls by focusing on formations of different times and spaces. The differentiations that the transformations over the designing process create, are illustrated with examples of the different temporal and spacial contexts of Wall, which has an important place in the architectural design reflections with its structural and conceptual reflections. Besides, as a metaphor, Wall is taken as a method of reflection, which illuminates the definition of the process concept regarding all the formations. The transformation does not occur in linear relations of temporal and spatial basis. It occurs in a holistic process with its complex relations and which clashes different temporal and spatial basis. In order to define these complex relations, the relation between Gilles Deleuze’s notions Virtual/Actual with Henry Bergson’s notion of Becoming and George Bataille’s metaphors of Labyrinth and Pyramid is taken as a reference. Within the conceptual frame obtained with these metaphors, Wall, as an architectural object, a concept and a metaphor is traced with its transformations and differentiations in different formations. With the processes of transformations cited over the concept of Wall, it is aimed to discuss the design which is held as a formation in the architectural design reflection, not in its search for an absolute result, but with the qualitative differentiations it creates with transformation.
