In this article, building phases of Silahi Mehmed Bey Masjid, a religious building located in Eyüp -the first settlement area of Ottoman population outside the city wallshave been examined. The masjid is among the rare examples of masjids with detached minarets. Its architect and construction date are unknown. According to the construction technique and architectural properties of the masjid, it is regarded as a 16th century building. Today, the complex consists of a masjid, a tomb, one minaret, toilets and a cemetery yard. Due to later additions constructed in different periods, the original appearance of the building has changed over time. In this study, the data obtained from the current survey drawings and on-site observations have been evaluated through the light of archival documents, old photos and maps. Later, changes seen in Silahi Mehmed Bey Masjid have been examined. Depending on the interventions that have resulted in spatial and visual changes of the structure, three phases of the building have been studied. Interventions were examined with cause and effect relation and the data obtained have been presented with accompanying visuals.
